Makeover your life

Here is a great web site for anyone who has been stalled in life. http://personalbootcamp.com

Follow along as Majon shares her journey to makeover her life. The writing is witty and the advice is practical.

Here is an exerpt: Just about every day something comes up that I don’t, can’t, or will not deal with right away. It may be filling out a form, sewing on a button, renewing my driver’s license - you get my drift. These are the tiny, niggly chores that become the stepchildren on your To-Do list; in other words, hangnails. Over time, I’ve developed a way to deal with these hangnails. I keep a list and a pile and when either one runs over I have a hangnail day, picking away at them until they’re gone.

Hayfever

Do you have hay-fever? I do. From early August until the first freeze, I deal with red, itchy eyes and a runny nose. Not just a regular runny nose, but a faucet that won't turn off. My throat itches and even my ears itch.

I take antihistamines and that helps the symptoms, but I get sleepy. I stay away from the brands that say they won't make me sleepy because they make me jittery. I have tried most brands and really think they all work about the same. I end up with the generic choice and just slow down for a few months.

My son has allergies, lots. I felt like a terrible mother when he was diagnosed in college. He is not the complaining type and just put up with the congestion. Now if someone says they have a cold or a small child is rubbing their ears, I ask if they have considered that it may actually be allergies.

September 11

Today was the 5th anniversary of the terrorists attacks. I didn't watch a lot of the TV coverage. Today would have been my dad's 82nd birthday. He died in February of 2004. I decided to remember that instead.

There are a bunch of family birthdays in September. I remember a family reunion that was held in a September. Everyone that had a September birthday gathered around one cake. We took a photo. I really like that photo. My dad looked very happy. My aunt was in the photo too. She died from lung cancer.

Memories are something you get to choose. I choose the happy ones today.

Halloween Candy

I was shopping at Target and I saw some Indian corn candy near the checkout. That is how they "get you," they place impulse items near the checkout.

When I got home, I realized that the candy was a Target brand and not Brach's. Beware, don't buy the Target brand and expect to get Brach's flavor. In fact, the flavor of the Target brand is not even a food flavor. It tastes like something industrial.

I like to buy candy around Halloween time. I will stick to the tried and true brands.
